*twiddles thumbs*

I *promise* I'll post something better tomorrow. I haven't felt well all day, and I think I'm just going to go to bed now. :)

In lieu of actual content, here are two Kylie icons I made for absolutely no reason at all; an icon of Brian May, also made for no real reason; and of course, one of Freddie Mercury, again made for no reason at all. I'm quite pleased with all of them, though. :D

Please feel free to use them if you'd like. :)

derderDERderderderDERderderderDERderderderderder-der-der-der

That title is, of course, the riff from Tie Your Mother Down. It is not, in fact, a stuttering German. ;) Clever, no? Ah well...

*twiddles thumbs* OK, I have *got* to think of something to post about. This is just getting silly. I'm such a dimwit, I can't even think of anything to post in my own blog.

Hmm. Hmm -- ooh, that gives me an idea! Hmm! OK, see, the First Doctor says Hmm a lot. If you're a Doctor Who fan, you'd know that already, and would have (maybe) let out a little snicker at the first appearance of a "Hmm" in this post. Doctor Who fans are like that. Well, I am. I crack up at Who-related stuff that isn't intentionally Who-related.

Right - how about a post about Doctor Who? Here's a terribly unoriginal list that I have come up with off the top of my head.

*Ahem*

Signs that you've become a sad Doctor Who fan:
10. You can articulate the difference between The Seeds of Death and The Seeds of Doom.
9. You read the Doctor Who BBC (et al) novels, even if they feature a Doctor you're not a huge fan of.
8. You *wrote* a Doctor Who BBC novel.
7. You play the Doctor Who theme on your guitar/keyboard/etc.
6. You play the Doctor Who theme on a recorder. (The Second Doctor's instrument of choice, geddit?)
5. You understood the recorder reference in the above post before reading the note in parentheses.
4. You've stayed up until the wee hours of the morning to watch and record a showing of the TVM on the Sci Fi channel (this only applies if you're an American Who fan. :) ). Extra points (wait, there aren't any points, are there?) if you did this when you had an English exam the next day (I did :/ ), or something similar!
3. You know what the TVM is. (Bonus points if you wish you didn't. Although, I quite like it, but only cos Paul McGann is such a good Doctor)
2. You know what the Morbius/Doctor face issue is, and you have a firm belief that the faces are of (choose one) The Doctor/Morbius. You are also willing to defend your belief to the death.
1. You've started a Doctor Who website. :D

What fun, huh? And believe me, it's all in good fun, I'm not actually trying to insult anybody. I based most of those on my own fannishness! :)

Right, here's the Queen portion of the post. A post just wouldn't be a post without some Queen. Or, in this case, Freddie Mercury. :D

Again, take 'em, use 'em, and enjoy 'em. Don't worry about credit. :)

Mmm, Millionaire Waltz. Good stuff.

Heh. Sorry for the random song comment...

Mmm, love those Flash remixes. They're absolutely fantastic remixes, so if you ever find them on CD or whatever, snap 'em up. :)

Let's see... nothing particularly interesting today. I saw HP III again (second time), and am still not as enamored with it as I was with the first two. Too many things were played for laughs, and though I'm all for comedy, it just doesn't always seem to gel very well with the Harry Potter atmosphere. The film just doesn't have the same... I dunno, whatever it was that the first and second ones have. Plus, it's quite sad not having Richard Harris as Dumbledore, you know? He *was* Dumbledore, and his replacement is just that - a replacement. Absolutely pales in comparison.

OK, on to happier topics, like.......say.......Queen! Ha ha, thought you'd get to read a post without the topic eventually giving way to a Queen ramble, didn't ya? Erm, or not, whatever. I'm sleepy and don't really feel like making much of an effort to be witty.

No jokes about me not being witty when I do try. :D

OK - Queen! I came up with three new icons because... aw, cos I love to make icons with Freddie Mercury as the subject. ;)

Please feel free to use them! They're 100x100 pixels, so they're ideal for LiveJournal usage. No credit required, I'm not a credit-minded person. ;) As long as you enjoy them, that's all that matters. :D

*twiddles thumbs*

I've got absolutely nothing to talk about. It's quite sad, really. I can't think of anything interesting, or even anything boring. It's been a fairly uneventful day. :/

...

I've been listening to Ofra Haza's Ya Ba Ye single (and despite being produced in 1989, the remixes are quite good, contrary to my belief that most 80s-early90s remixes are a bit pig dootish) and because I've been listening to it while I've been doing web stuff, and haven't actually been listening very closely, every time she says

Ya bin ti
I think she says
Yeah, minty
In itself, it's a funny thought ("Yeah, minty"), but then put into the context of the song -
My mother always told me
Ya bin ti

But with my "lyric", it becomes
My mother always told me
Yeah, minty

- it's pretty funny. Now, please do stop laughing at me, because I know she doesn't say "Yeah, minty". :) It just sounds like she does if you're not listening intently to the song, and it tends to crack me up. :D

BTW, the Ya bin ti bit is in Hebrew, which is why I don't know what it means in English. Certainly, it's not about mints.

Well, I hope that was amusing.

If it wasn't, then this is sure to amuse:

o/' Just very slightly mad! o/'

I'm Going Slightly Mad - love it! And you should too.

No, really, you should. It's such a fantastically camp, cool song. And the video! *loves*

I happened upon a Spanish DVD import of Greatest Flix II at the video store today, and as soon as I spotted I'm Going Slightly Mad (as well as other vids I don't have) on the track list, I had to have it, as I am a rabid Queen fan and all ;) . Plus, the song is one of my favorites.

So I finally got to see it (after having wondering how in the world I'd ever get to see it because it's not on GVH2), and I just love it. It's slightly scary the first few moments - I've never seen a Queen video so crisp and clear and... creepy. Then you get into it, and you love it. Freddie Mercury is absolutely brilliant in it and I *demand* to have a banana hat. I *need* a banana hat!!

Anyways... yes, it's quite a nifty video, and now ranks up there in my top 5 favorite vids. No, I don't actually keep a list, but, you know, it's a sort of figure of speech. Or something. Besides, I don't think anyone would care about my top 5 fave vids. Which means that I shall probably, in the future, write a lengthy post about my top 5 faves. ;)

OK, I'm not done about the video. Sorry, just bear with me. :)

...

Whoops, sorry, just got sidetracked thinking about what it would be like to have a banana hat. :) It would be so cool to wear around and freak people out! "She's got bananas on her head!" they'd say, and I'd cooly say "Indeed I do." Yep. ;)

Right, back to the video. Certainly, it's the best of the Innuendo vids (I've seen Headlong [which is cool in its own right, but come on - no banana hat!], Innuendo, and The Show Must Go On; there may be another one or two that I've not seen) that I've seen.

Just so you know, I have absolutely no idea why I've gone on a rant about the video. I usually don't go on like this, but golly, it's brilliant! :D

So, that was the high point of my day. Obviously. :)

I'll leave you with this:

Gotta love the Deaky!

Cheery bye, Scarlett

BTW - I felt like screencapping random stuff after I had screencapped some of IGSM - how cool is this?:

Lasers shooting out of his guitar! Isn't it nifty? Yes it is! Stop laughing at me, I happen to think it's quite cool.

o/' ...So still I wait... o/'

White Queen (As it Began)... ah, such a gorgeous song. :D

So, I've come to a decision. I *definitely* prefer 70s Queen to 80s Queen. Why this sudden proclamation? I dunno, just because. ;) I just love how their 70s albums are so... perfect. I've never been a huge fan of 80s music anyway, but I digress. Though I prefer 70s Queen, I do still love a lot of 80s Queen too. One Vision, Invisible Man, Another One Bites the Dust, Radio Ga Ga, WWTLF, Crazy Little Thing Called Love... erm, well, you get the idea. :D 70s Queen just seems to have some sort of magic... o/' it's a kind of magic o/' Ok, I like that one too. Gah!

I'm listening to Queen II and am falling in love all over again with Queen. That's a fun thing to do! :D

I found the Easter Egg on the Queen GVH1 Disk 2! Granted, I found it by chance, but it was neat to find it anyway. Apparently there's some high-falutin' way to find it, but all I did was select Title 10... or Chapter 10... whatever it was, it had a 10 in it. This was on my PC, so maybe that's why it was easier to find. Anyways... it's an alternate version of the Bo Rhap video, with flames at the beginning and several different angles and close-ups and such. It had just enough difference to cause me to squeal and be happy about finding it, as opposed to some of the Doctor Who DVD Easter Eggs I've found and thought "What was *that* all about?". Strange analogy (Queen and Doctor Who), I know, but it all had to do with Easter Eggs, so it's justitifed.

*has out-of-nowhere urge to get up and lip-sync to Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke*
I do so love that song... *wipes away happy tear*

And just because it amuses me so:

I'll leave you with that. :D

Cheery bye, Scarlett

BTW - I'm still wondering what it means to "fo" and "fie".

LISTEN! Are you gonna listen? Sorry, more lyrics. ;) Gotta love the lyrics. :)

Anyways... another fun and boring day. I like boring days quite a lot. I did absolutely nothing constructive or beneficial to me or humankind, and I like that. ;)

And suddenly, for no reason at all:

John Deacon, bass guy*, Flash! video.

*Yes, I know the proper term is "bassist", but I think "bass guy" sounds funnier and somehow fits good ol' Deaky. :D

I tried to make nice-looking avs of the rest of the band, but I'll have to work on it. It's difficult to make animated 100x100 GIFs for avatars because you can only use so many frames before it gets to be too big. *Sigh*

Well... that's all I have to say today. Wait --

o/' FLASH! Ah-ah! o/'

I swear, that song is going to be stuck in my head for the rest of my life! :) We went to look at CDs today (finally! *yippee*) and I got a LOT of CDs with my graduation moolah, and one of those CDs was a single with Flash remixes (Queen + Vanguard [?] - I suppose Vanguard remixed it, but it's kind of hard to tell by the liner notes). The remixes are fantastic! There's a radio mix and an extended mix, which is comprised of three different remixes. Confusing, no? But it makes sense if you listen to it. :D So anyways - that is one addictive song. I'm sure I'll wake up tomorrow morning with o/' FLASH! Ah-ah-ah! o/' looping around in my head. Anyway - it's a cool song, with some absolutely spangly remixes. Ah-ah!

Look what I've been doing with my free time!

Bo Rhap Freddie Mercury / Diamond Leotard Thingy Freddie Mercury

Doll bases courtesy of

No, really! OK, stop laughing. Please? C'mon, I thought they looked pretty cool! Well, I'm going to continue thinking that they are, in fact, super-spangly. Because they ARE!

You see, "cartoon dolls" are quite popular online and I rather enjoy looking at the little pixellated masterpieces people make. I've made a few myself using "bases" that the nice lovely doll people allow drawing-challenged people like me to use (I can draw clothes and hair relatively well if I concentrate on it, but I can't draw doll bodies for beans. So like I said, I use pre-made bases by generous doll artistes), but don't really plan on posting them anywhere. However, I was inspired to create and eventually post Queen "dolls" because... oh come on, like I really need to give you a reason? ;)

I'm going to try to create a bunch of little Queen dollies, but I've started with Freddie Mercury because I wanted to. So there, nyah. :P My favorite (although with only two, that doesn't really leave room for choosing "favorites", does it? ;) ) is Bo Rhap Freddie Mercury. But I quite like how Diamond Leotard Thingy Freddie Mercury turned out, too! Please don't display them on your site (as if you'd want to! ;) ) (yet) because I'm going to wait to post those dolls as well as the as-yet-unmade other "dollies" on my A Night At The Opera fanlisting, if that EVER gets approved. Then you can adopt them and link to the fanlisting. That doesn't make much sense, does it? Erm... sorry about that, I'm quite sleepy and really need to get to bed, and ah-ah! Ev'ry man ev'ry woman ev'ry child with a mighty FLASH!

o/' Down in the dungeons just Peaches and me... o/'

Does anyone have any idea what that's all about? I'm sure I could find out if I searched around (around around around around) the Internet, but I felt like putting the question out there anyway. Ah - the lyric, of course, is from Now I'm Here, from Sheer Heart Attack. The song is lovely and quite confusing because you think you've got the gist of what the song means and then they throw in a lyric about dungeons and someone named Peaches and you go "Wha...?". But that's one of the many reasons why I love Queen - the quirky eccentricity! And crazy but brilliant lyrics! ;)

The around around around around bit refers to a nifty echo-y thing in the song. Eh.

I got my hair cut on Friday. Whoop! I quite like it. :) Anyways, that's dull to talk about.

Pig doots.

Now *that's* interesting, hmm? :D

Crazy Little Thing Called Love is addicitive. But it doesn't have HEALING POWERS like Tie Your Mother Down and Seven Seas of Rhye do. Sorry, but I had to mention the HEALING POWERS because... well... there's no real reason, I just felt like it. ;)

I'm finally going to be able to get CDs! Yes, the weather doesn't look horrible for Sunday, and as it's Father's Day and my daddy loves CDs, we're going to spend the day out and about and looking at CDs. Yay! Plus I made a lovely, funny, HI-larious gift for him. It's from my brother and me, but because he's 10 and not very often found away from his video game stuff, I should really get all the credit. But he helped. I guess. ;)

And that's about all for now!

o/' You are mine, I posess you, belong to you forever-ever-ever - ahhh! o/'

//So sorry I didn't post yesterday! I'll not let that happen again - I shall be sure to post *every day*!//

Seven Seas of Rhye. I have absolutely no idea why I love this song so much. Probably due to memories associated with it, actually. You see, I had the flu for two weeks this past February. It was an awful sort of flu that left your head feeling like... well, really bad. The second week was when the stomach flu bit kicked in, which wasn't fun at all, but the week before, with all the congestion and coughing and sneezing - now *that* was fun. Every morning I'd wake up and sneeze a bit, then sit down in front of my computer and cough, and then I'd do sod all! It was so great! I worked on website stuff and graphics, but the two high points were:

1) I, in a moment of genius, I decided I should pop in the Queen Greatest Hits CD my mom said that I should give a listen to. Completely out of the blue, I decided to listen to that fantastic album, and - true story - it was the only thing I listened to for that *whole two weeks*. Certain songs that I listened to more than others seem to, when I listen to them now, conjure up memories of the scent of this horrible Vicks humidifier thingy that was constantly on in my room for the duration of those two weeks. Ew. But I still love the songs!

2) On Glitter's Cap-Page Board, for Capper Crush Month (February, Valentine's Day - geddit?), Pirates of the Caribbean was loaded and ready for capping. If I hadn't felt like I had a vice about my head, I would have done a happy dance. Instead, I simply set about capping it! From now on, I shall always associate Queen music with POTC captioning. What a lovely combination!! :D

I decided, after I graduated, that those two weeks was the high point of the *year*. I know, I'm terribly sad. Considering I saw Sarah Brightman in concert this year, that decision is *extremely*, *extremely* sad. But hey, I had fun. And Sarah Brightman made me break out in hives.

...

No, really, I broke out in hives after the concert. Or during it, I dunno, but when we got back to the hotel, lo and behold, my hands had hives! I was so excited that I broke out in hives! That's just how spiffy Sarah Brightman is!

Really, it's not meant as a backhanded insult. I was so excited about it, I got hives. Go figure.

o/' Fat bottomed girls, you make the *rockin'* world go round... o/'

I'll leave you with that deep statement to ponder. ;)

o/' I'll weave my spell... o/'

Brighton Rock, Sheer Heart Attack. I just love that song! :D

So nothing interesting happened today either. The weather kept us from going out to look at CDs and stuff, which was sad, but hopefully (weather permitting - good golly, I'm all for a summer thunderstorm, but *every day*?) tomorrow we'll get to go. :)

I'm working on a remix of Radio Ga Ga now. Yeah, I know I was working on Who Wants to Live Forever, but... I got sidetracked. I'll work on WWTLF for a while, then switch over to Radio Ga Ga, then go back to WWTLF, then... You get the picture! :) I'm quite pleased because I was able to get the beat of RGG to loop without a break. *whoo* So that was quite encouraging!

I flipped through Doctor Who: The Completely Useless Encylopedia today, after not having read it for awhile, and was amused (but not entirely surprised) to find that I had all but memorized the thing! I always find myself picking it up when I want to read and laugh. It's a good book for that. :)

*twiddles thumbs* Well, that's about all I can think of to talk about today... I'll try to get more interesting!! ;)

o/' Just very slightly mad... o/'

From I'm Going Slightly Mad (Queen, of course!), from the Innuendo album. I really do feel as though I'm very slowly going slightly mad - I'm SO not used to being out of school, and I'm still not settled into summer yet. Ah well, a few more days of sleeping late, and I'll be all set for a lovely, lazy summer. :D

o/' Oh dear... o/' ... that's a lovely line from the song, but with that indefinable Freddie Mercury delivery - more like "Oh de-ah" than "Oh dear". So lovely... :D

As an aside - I just love Stone Cold Crazy. I had to mention it. I'm just very slightly mad. Mwa ha ha ha ha.

Ooh, I'm so terribly dull today! I chatted with my buddy in Britain, the talented David. That was the high point of the day. Well, the other high point was when I was looking at piccies of Queen with my mom and she said "*laugh* And Freddie Mercury's looking off to the side, thinking 'I have a dastardly plan...'!" and I said "What?" and she said "Well, he looks like he's thinking 'I have a dastardly plan!' And Brian May looks like he's thinking 'What a bunch of idiots', and Roger Taylor looks all zoned out and probably thinks he's in Spain or something, and John Deacon just looks simple." And I had to concur - that was probably exactly what was happening when the photo was taken. ;) I luv my Mommy. :D

Well, I'm planning on going CD shopping and such with more of my graduation money tommorow. Fingers crossed that they have a good selection of Queen, and that it doesn't thunderstorm too horribly because I *need* to get out of the house. :)

And that's about it for now...

o/' You call me sweet like I'm some kind of *cheese*! o/'

:) From Sweet Lady on Queen's A Night At The Opera. A fantastic lyric! :D

Again, nothing much to say... I browsed various cliques and fanlistings, but that's not very interesting to talk about. :)

*twiddles thumbs* I'm sorry I'm so boring at the moment... I haven't thought of anything amusing to post, nor have I had a particularly amusing day. Merely a "bleh" day. Which is, of course, better than a "blah" day, but still... :/

If you were wondering, I'm still sure that Tie Your Mother Down has HEALING POWERS!. Seven Seas of Rhye, too. I know, I know, this is silly and not everyone knows what I'm talking about (unfortunately, not everyone is a Queen fan and therefore probably don't know what in the world I'm on about!), but hey, it's a funny running joke sort of thing, isn't it? *ahem* Isn't it?! ;)

Ooh, here's a bit of fun... out of curiosity, I went to see if grades were still online at my (former) high school's website, and they were, and I was extremely surprised to see that they were, in fact, still online! What's even more surprising is what I found, because I hadn't bothered checking my grades towards the end of school, because heck, I was graduating and I had been accepted to my top choice college and I knew I had good grades. But I had wondered what grade I got on my final assignment in my English class, and lo and behold, I got a 100%. Now let me explain why this is really neat:

I had an abbreviated schedule, which means that I came into school a few classes into the day. I got there on time on the day of my presentation, but the school had fiddled with the schedule because goodness know why, and so technically I was late. Blah. So, I had to get a late pass, then had to high-tail it to my English classroom to see if I had time to present. I barreled into the classroom and ... oh wait, I forgot one bit. My teacher had told us not to be absent on our presentation day because it would mess his schedule up, and heaven forbid we should do *that*! He's a scary sort of fellow, but decent enough. But scary. So I didn't want to feel his wrath, and that's why I was rushing to class to squeeze in my presentation.

So as I was saying, I barreled into the classroom, threw my books down, pulled out my floppy disk and notepaper and skidded up to the teacher and might as well have said "I'm going to present now, and you're not going to tell me we don't have time, because no one informed me that the sodding school was going to mess up the schedule, and how was I supposed to know to ask? I'm presenting NOW!!". But no, I was my polite self and asked if I could still present and he said yep, and so I sped through the presentation. It was about censorship and Gone With the Wind (the book), and I just whipped through my notes and facts at breakneck pace. I got a nice round of applause, though. :D

...

Hmm. I wrote more than I thought I would tonight. :)

What I need right now is a *Fantastic Drowse*...

Mmm, Drowse! Lovely, hypnotic song from A Day At The Races. Need I mention that it's a Queen album? ;) And I really do need a bit of a drowse - got to get to bed soon or else I'll be half-dead tomorrow! :)

Let's see... well, I haven't done anything interesting today, except... well, I did watch We Will Rock You, which was fun! I was sad when it ended - I felt like I was actually there and probably would have applauded, but I was just sane enough to realize that (*d'oh!*) it's on TV. DVD, to be (fastidious and) precise. ;) (Tee hee!)

I was browsing Queen sites online and came across a clever twist on... the Bible? Yep. The Holy Queeble is delightfully blasphemous and has a very Monty Python-ish vibe to it! A bit off-color at times, perhaps, but the idea of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John "Always Listed Last" Deacon as the creators of the universe is surely pure genius. Hmm?

Fangirl-type stuff ahead - proceed with caution... (d'you know, my dad reads my blog - I do hope that he doesn't read this and think "Oh 'eck, what's all this about then? She likes *him*? Wait -- she *likes* people?" I think I'm probably still about 4 years old in his mind. :) Probably because I have the maturity of a toddler! ;) And no, he doesn't actually talk (or think, I suppose) like that, but you get the gist!) --
It may come as somewhat of a surprise to you that, in fact, I rather fancy 70s Freddie Mercury. How could you have ever guessed that? ;) The Queenishness of lunaestas.com and F&P (Fastidious & Precise, of course!) couldn't ever have been a clue, could it? ;) ;) I found this fantastic picture of Freddie Mercury while perusing the web. (Why is it that I never refer to famous people by their first names in this blog? I just can't fathom simply referring to Freddie Mercury (there I go again!) as "Freddie".) Anyways... it's a lovely photo that I drooled at for a few minutes until I was distracted by a shiny object... That does tend to happen. ;) There's another pic that I had already seen ages ago, saved to my hard drive, and drooled over, at that same site. Why not take a look? :) Just thought I'd share this with ya. ;)

Oh yes! I had an epiphany yesterday! No, really! I was listening to Tie Your Mother Down and was feeling a bit down, and then that guitar started up - you know, after the intro and then the "derderDERderderderDERderderderDERderderder-der-der-der-der..." guitar plays? Don't you just love how I verbalize guitar playing? :) Anyway, that bit started, and I just grinned for no reason at all except for the fact that it sounded *good*. It was then that I had my epiphany! Tie Your Mother Down has healing powers!! That's why, whenever I listen to it, I feel happy! *Healing powers*!! Of course, any Queen song makes me feel happy, but TYMD seems to have some special.........
HEALING POWERS!

In other news... erm, I suppose that there isn't really any other news. Um...

Pig doots.

And that's all for now!

Cheery bye, Scarlett

PS - Seven Seas Of Rhye also has
HEALING POWERS!

P.S. The nose goblins have missed you, too

An addendum to a reply to an email by GlitterRock (vote for him! - see last post). :) I do love those nose goblins... *sheds a tear*

Well, nothing too interesting to post about... I went shopping at Borders (a nifty bookstore with books and lots more) and was terribly disMAYed (tee hee!) to find that they had no solo recordings by Brian May, Roger Taylor or Freddie Mercury! What's all that about?? And their selection of Queen albums/etc was quite shoddy and the prices were SO marked up. I can get 'em cheap(er) at this great used CD shop that I usually go to to make my CD purchases (ooh, don't I sound high-falutin'), but I had a gift card (whee!) and was aching to buy stuff. So, with the girt card, I got We Will Rock You (live in concert! On DVD! Woo-hoo!) and an Ofra Haza album (Shirey Moledet, Pt. 3), and then with some more of my graduation money I bought a trancey-remix album, a remix album by The Scumfrog, and a remix album of Natacha Atlas songs. I got the Scumfrog thing because I love his remix of Kylie's Love At First Sight, but I'm not sure if I love the album yet. I haven't listened to it all yet (I'm listening to Ofra Haza right now, actually), but there doesn't seem to be a great deal of variety in the remixes. However, there is a nifty mix featuring David Bowie's Loving The Alien, which is nice, even though I've never heard the original.

Speaking of Bowie, I think I'm going to end up being a fan, because I quite like the greatest hits collection cd of my mom's. I've stolen from her for the time being... she keeps asking if she can have it back sometime, and I say "Sure", but really, I plan on keeping it! (Just kidding ;) ) Golden Years is fantastic. And I can't think of a good segue into the next subject... so I'm just going to...

Start talking about whatever it is that I wanted to talk about. Which was... oh dear, can't remember. Oh yes - the trance cd has a remix of Clannad's Almost Seems (Too Late To Turn), but (1) they got the title wrong (they left out the Almost Seems bit), (2) they didn't credit Clannad as the writers of the song, and (3) it was pig dootish. Maybe my expectations were too high because it's a Clannad song. The remixer didn't use all of the vocals, and the vocals he did use didn't always match with the beats. :( *wipes away tear* Besides, I prefer AS(TLTT) as its original self, because it causes tears to well up. Lovely song.

Well, I've got to get to watching We Will Rock You, because I simply love Queen! *love love love* And as I said before, I was quite unhappy that I didn't find any albums at Borders that (1) I didn't already have or (2) were not over $20. *wipes away another tear* I did, however, find 2 books that were Queen-related, which was nice, until I flicked through them. "God Save My Queen" was, as far as I could discern, a collection of some guy's really odd thoughts about each track of every album from Queen to Hot Space. I didn't think I would ever really read it, so I didn't buy it, even though I was tempted because it's about Queen! Then there was the Freddie Mercury biography sort of thing that I thought would be about his whole life, as most biographies usually follow that pattern. From what I could tell after glancing through the book, it focused mainly on his illness and subsequent decline. It looked horribly depressing and probably would have left me in tears so I didn't get that, either. It's so sad to think about him suffering (listen to The Show Must Go On and tell me your eyes don't well up a bit!), let alone to read about it... silly old sad biography. Oh dear, now I've gotten depressed. *Killer Queen chorus suddenly pops up in whatever passes for my brain* Okay, better now. :) *images from video of their Top of the Pops performance of Killer Queen suddenly pops up in brain* Mmm, *much* better now! :D And on that note...

What does it mean to "fo" and "fie"? Well??

I'm currently pondering this, after listening to The March of the Black Queen for about the bagazillionth time. I absolutely love Queen II! Not a rubbish song on it! Of course, Queen's never made a rubbish song, but Queen II is simply utter perfection. I've got the remastered version with the remix of Seven Seas of Rhye and Ogre Battle. Gah! Seven Seas of Rhye is remixed as a dance/club mix, and because Rhye is one of my most fave songs ever, I held high standards for the remix, of course taking into consideration that it was remixed in the early 90s (*shudder* - lots of tacky synths and MIDI-esque melodies proliferate in early 90s remixes, but sometimes they actually sound okay... well, okay enough). Well... the remix is pig doots. First of all, I wouldn't have ever dared to remix the fantasticness that is Rhye, so the remixer is a very silly person to begin with. But with the addition of
1. vocals from *years* down the line (explain to me how the "Ready Freddie" line from Crazy Little Thing Called Love has anything to do with Rhye? - and it's distorted to the point that it sounds like "Get Freddie", which creeped me out when I first listened to it! The "Beautiful" sample is taken from the live performance of Love Of My Life, and is used about 2 or 3 times. The "Eeee-ma-hee" (that's what it sounds like!) might be a bit of one of Freddie's vocals from Rhye played backwards, but just sounds... odd... even thuogh it could have sounded cool with a bit of vocal effects and if it had been the *only* excess vocal used. And I can't say where the "Yeah" comes from, cos it could be from any Queen song! If I listened to that one vocal by itself over and over again, I could figure it out. I'm sure of it. ;) )
2. a doofy MIDI piano melody
3. a way-too-simplistic MIDI bass line
4. a basic "thud-clapthud-thud-clapthud" and cymbally backing beat that *never* changes at all (except when the beat is taken away and just the cymbally bit plays)
5. an even doofier synth melody
6. what sounds a tiny little bit like the cool guitar bit at the beginning of White Man but severely distorted and therefore sounds... not very fantastic at all

and the lack of

1. save for the "doodoodoodoodoodooDOO" guitar right after "mighty titan and his troubadors", none of the original instrumentals
2. none of the other vocals (it just doesn't the same at all without the big crescendo of "forever-ever-ever-ah!"! In the remix, it's just "forever - then I'll get you!".)

the remix is a strange amalgamation of vocal samples and programmed beats and synths. If Rhye were to be remixed again (Heaven forbid!!), I'd call upon someone *good* to do it (Trouser Enthusiasts would do a fine job, I should think.). Rhye deserves an absolutely epic remix, and all we got was... pig doots. But because it has the main vocals from Rhye, it has some merit, because I love Rhye and wouldn't completely pan anything that includes elements from it.

Mmm, Trouser Enthusiasts remixes. Epic stuff.

Oh yes - the Ogre Battle remix isn't a remix in the sense that most people think of when they hear "remix" - it's basically just a polished up version of Ogre Battle. Which, in my opinion, is downright sacriligeous! If you're going to mess with a Queen song, don't try to *improve* it, cos it can't be done. Messing with it in an different format, like creating a dance remix, is a bit different, don't you think? It's not exactly like trying to improve it, it's more like... trying to create a dance remix!

Ogre Battle! *loves*

o/' Sheeeeeeeeer - heart attack! o/'

o/' Hey hey hey hey, it was the DNA; hey hey hey hey, that made me this way! o/' Mmm, mmm, mmm, gotta love Sheer Heart Attack (by Queen, who else? :) ), oddly found on News of the World (as opposed to the ultra-fantastic album Sheer Heart Attack!).

Hmm, I feel so in-a-in-a-in-ar---ticulate! All right, I'll stop with the lyrics. But hey (hey hey hey), it's a good song! If you listen to it enough, you feel like your head's gonna explode! No, really! That can also happen, I've found, with The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke (Queen II) and Liar (Queen). Fun stuff, fun stuff.

Not to be whiny and pathetic, but I'm a bit fed up with those Fanlistings folk who do all the approving and such. I applied ages ago for the album A Night At The Opera (Queen -duh-), then found out that my application wasn't there, and so I had to go through the whole process again. I've got the site done and everything, and am absolutely *aching* to launch it. *hugs ANATO site* Plus I'm waiting for my Paul McGann (*hugs Paul McGann*) fanlisting to actually be *listed*, which would be nice. The Scarf! is another that hasn't been listed, but at least it finally got approved. *hugs approval email* I'm half considering just launching the ANATO site without "approval", but then it wouldn't be recognized by the fanlisting-joining public as a true "fanlisting". Of course, I'd rather not have to go through all this "fanlisting" rigmarole, because I love the subjects that I have fanlistings of and don't feel that I need approval to love them and create sites about them, but the trend is to be "approved" if you decide to have a fanlisting. Even if I were to be daring and say "Here's a fanlisting that's not approved by anyone", which I've seen done before, someone else would apply for the listing on thefanlistings.org or wherever and get approved, and people would join the "approved" listing because if it's approved, it must be better. It's a very clique-ish mentality. What's more, fanlistings claim to be "official fanlistings" of subjects that they don't really have official approval for anyway - at least not from those that count (eg, fanlistings of celebrities, songs, and movies don't have approval from the celebrity, songwriter, or production company in question, do they? So it's not official.) I personally wouldn't dare to say that any of my fanlisting sites are official, because it would be a lie. Still, I'd like for my applied-for fanlistings to be recognized, despite my dislike of the, as mentioned before, rigmarole. (I like that word.) I understand that the fanlistings approval people have a lot of forms to process, and that they have lives too, but really... this is just getting absurd!

Quite fitting that I'm listening to My Melancholy Blues while typing up this rant.

Ooooooooooooh! My first blog rant! This calls for a celebration! And festive hats!

BTW, as I went back through to edit my rant, Fight From the Inside started playing (NOTW is on shuffle on my CD player :) ). Started feeling a bit rebellious then! ;)

o/' Just give me -- fried chicken!! o/'

From Queen's One Vision, a spectacular song. :)

I started on a new remix last night (taking bits and pieces from Queen's Who Wants to Live Forever and *trying* to create a good remix) and have continued working on it today. I don't know if it will end up like most of my other remixes that I get excited about and then decide there's no hope for them, and move on to something else. I certainly hope it doesn't, cos it sounds really neat so far. I think my best mix so far has been Clannad's A Mhuirnin O - I took the original track and basically pepped it up with heavier, faster beats and vocal effects. I quite like it. :) Although, my most recent remix of the Doctor Who theme sounds quite spiffy too. I suppose that and my A Mhuirnin O mix are the most cohesive, and therefore the best.

You know, I should, someday, get round to posting my remixes online. Somebody, somewhere might like to hear what I've done! Well, I can wish, can't I? :)

I've claimed Brian May as my guitarist in this guitarist clique I found online. Why I mentioned this, I don't know. To those unfamiliar with claiming cliques, the statement "I've claimed Brian May" should sound really strange. Perhaps that's why I posted it? :) (I was a bit surprised that no one else had claimed him, actually!)

...

And just for fun - Freddie Mercury! *whee* :)

Taunting Happy Fun Brigadier...

A humourous captioning reference that has just been started on Glitter's Cap-page Board in the Doctor Who cap thread. Spearhead from Space is currently up for captioning, and as it features the Brigadier, a clever capper came up with a spiffy variation on "Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball". All right, so this doesn't make any sense at all unless you're part of the board, but it amused me! This was one of the high points of my day. :)

Today (and I know everyone is very interested in hearing what I've been doing today, right?), I've been looking at what Queen stuff amazon.com has. My graduation money is burning a hole in my pocket and I can't wait to spend it on tons of Queen stuff! I really want to hear Freddie Mercury, Brian May, and Roger Taylor's solo work now because every review I read was stellar and besides, I love them! And that was pretty much my day.

o/' ...And the night grows pale... o/'

Well, not really, cos it's midnight and it's quite dark. :)

Hello! This is my official first post. Those two test posts don't count, of course, cos they're just test posts. This is my first, official, spangly post.

Introductions...
I'm Scarlett. Hi! *waves* If you're reading this, you must either be a) bored or b) very bored, because I have no idea how you would have found this unless you searched through Blogger's recently updated blogs or some such! Nevertheless, here's my blog, I hope you enjoy it. :)

o/' ...And the night grows pale... o/' is a lyric from Queen's fantastic "White Queen (As It Began)". If you wanted to know. :)

Now, to business. Here's what you can expect from my blog:
*Silly and amusing thoughts
*Silly and amusing observances
*An occasional bit of serious, deep, philosophical thought
*Ha! I'm just kidding, I'm not going to be deep or philosophical. ;)
*And lots of other stuff!

My most recent silly and amusing thought - did Queen take a break after Hot Space to record a fantastic album, as they said, OR - was it really because John Deacon (the bassist) needed some time off to get some rhythm before they did the Radio Ga Ga video? Really! Watch the We Will Rock You video (circa '78) and take note of his amusing inability to clap coherently! Then, watch the Radio Ga Ga (circa '84) video and be amazed by his newfound ability to clap on cue and without looking like he's having a fit! Well, it's a plausible theory, isn't it? ;) And of course I offer this thought with no mean-spiritedness - you gotta love John Deacon! He's just so endearing and cheek-pinching cute! Even though he can't clap... (o/' ...ooh, poor boy o/') ;)

About Fastidious & Precise

Fastidious & Precise? Fastidious & Precise is my blog. Boring, huh? It's named after a lyric from the song "Killer Queen" by Queen that I quite like. My entries are rather random - I veer from topic to topic and rarely make serious points. I'm not sure how many people read my blog, but for anyone who does, I hope you like it! :)

First (proper) blog entry: June 8, 2004

Previous Layouts:

(Summer 2004) Version One: Belladonic Haze: My favorite Queen layout yet! (I've made Queen layouts for several of my sites.) I thought the brushes and the effects really gave this layout an "atmosphere", if it's possible! I also quite like the shades of purple - gave it a rich look. :) The title comes from a lyric from the excellent Keep Yourself Alive. :)

(Fall 2004) Version Two: Someone (Someone) Just Drained the Colour From My Blog: Clever title, hmm? ;) I do like this layout, but after awhile, I felt it was just too dark, and ultimately too dull. The layout was simple and classy, but boring! However, I still like how it turned out. :) The title is a play on the lyric "Someone (someone) just drained the colour from my wings" from My Fairy King.

(Winter 2005) Version Three: Let Us Blog Together: It's a very simple
design, very clean, with no dramatic flourishes or anything. I was very
pleased with how this turned out - I really like the contrast of the reds and
blues. The kimono-clad Roger and Deaky inspired the title, Let Us Blog Together, which is a play on Teo Torriatte (Let Us Cling Together). :)

Link to me?

I know that probably no one will ever want/need to link to my blog, but I like making buttons, so pbfft. :)

Scarlett (of lunaestas.com)'s weblog. A silly blog with no deep thoughts or "musings." I just post thoughts and observances that amuse me, and I hope will amuse someone else! :) (Fastidious & Precise - a lyric from Queen's song Killer Queen. No, the lyric has nothing to do with anything, I just thought it sounded nifty!)
