o/' Fairy dandy tickling the fancy of his lady friend... o/'
One of my favorite lines from Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke! Freddie Mercury's lyrics in that song are so fun - do yourself a favor and go listen to it right now. If you have the song, of course... if you don't, then... um... go read the lyrics. :)
Well, I've been neglecting this poor blog - I just haven't had anything to say recently! I still don't, but that's not the point. ;)
I was in a mock cover-making mood and came up with eight (!) new covers on my Sarah Brightman site - I must say, I'm quite happy with them, and I think they're much better than most of the Sarah Brightman covers I've made before. :)
Ooh! I haven't rambled on about it here before, but I've been on a quest to find the Trouser Enthusiasts' remix of Sarah Brightman's version of Who Wants To Live Forever (Who Wants To Live Forever [Trouser Enthusiasts Cybernetic Odalique Mix]), and - hallelujah! - I found it online and downloaded it! To me, that remix was sort of the holy grail of remixes: not only is it Who Wants To Live Forever, which we all know is just gorgeous, but it's sung by Sarah Brightman, AND it's remixed by the remixing gods known as the Trouser Enthusiasts. Excuse my while I dance a happy dance...
*happy dance*
OK! So, I'll review it here. Oh, stop groaning, it won't be that boring.
I have one other Trouser Enthusiast remix of a Sarah Brightman song (Starship Troopers - Trouser Enthusiasts Iris Unicularis Mix), and I love it to bits. It boggles my mind how they were able to take the campiest of camp 70s songs and mix it into an epic, 9:58min *experience*. Really. Anyways, I also have several more of their remixes for Dannii Minogue, Kylie Minogue, and Ofra Haza, and have never been disappointed. I've come to find that even if a remixer has done the best remix you've ever heard, that's not a guarantee that their whole body of work will be just as good - but with the Trouser Enthusiasts, everything I've heard is just perfect. So on with my review of Who Wants To Live Forever [Trouser Enthusiasts Cybernetic Odalique Mix].
Who Wants To Live Forever [Trouser Enthusiasts Cybernetic Odalique Mix] is, in a word, beautiful. For one thing, it actually uses melodies from the song itself, which is great - in fact, it starts out with either a synthesized or distorted sample of the instrumental bit in the original song where Sarah sings "Who, ooh ooh..." (or something like that, you get the idea :) ). The Trouser Enthusiasts win big points with that. :) Then, as the Enthusiasts so brilliantly do in their other remixes, they start up the little snippets of vocals, then go into a dramatic synthesized bassline, and then some more nifty synths. So a few minutes of that goes by, then they build up into a crescendo that culminates with a gorgeously synthesized melody from the song itself, and Sarah pipes up with "Now touch my tears with your lips" several times, then the song resumes with that great synth melody playing throughout. The vocal snippets start again, but with the added "Who wants to live forever?" vocal. More points earned for the Enthusiasts! :)
So the remix continues with variations on what I've already described, with "Who waits forever anyway?" tossed in for good measure every so often. :) It clocks in at 9:15min. It's a dub, really, as all of the vocals aren't used - only snippets and phrases (similar to the Ofra Haza Show Me [Trouser Enthusiasts' Kaleidoscope Perversion Mix], which doesn't actually use all of the vocals) - the dub remixes of some remixers I've heard usually aren't anything special, but the Trouser Enthusiasts make it into something glorious. It would've been neat if all the vocals had been used, but it's fine just as it is. So, out of 10, I'd give it a 9 1/2, taking off half of a point because more vocals weren't used. :)
Hmm. I'm sure that wasn't entertaining to anyone except for me, but I hope it made some sense. ;)

Hmm, not much to say, really. My birthday was nice, I got lovely gifts (I got a t-shirt with the Queen II cover image on it!!), and had a fun day... I dunno, I'm feeling a bit depressed. I think it may be because it's that "back-to-school" time of year, and this is the first year that I don't have to be worried about going back. I have to get a part-time job, sure, but that's not school. I'll worry about school when I start college in the spring!
But anyways, I'm not depressed because I'm not going back to school - I'm depressed because that's usually how I feel this time of year, but now there's nothing to be depressed about, so that depresses me. Sorry for being so confusing!

Anyways - as I assumed would happen, I scrapped the idea of skinning my Sarah Brightman site, because it's just too confusing for me at the moment. I did, however, come up with a similar alternative (you can choose your layout, but there are no cookies involved) using SSI, CSS, headers & footers, an Iframe, and dynamic javascript. I'm working on getting the bugs and glitches out, but so far, everything seems to work at the most basic level, which is good. Now I've just go to make sure everything displays correctly and that all the images are properly uploaded. When I've finished with all that, I'll launch the main index, and I'll breath a huge sigh of relief. :)
I'm toying with the idea of starting a Photoshop brush site, where you can download brush sets. I've created a bunch (technical term) of brushes for myself to use when I'm working on images, but don't know if I'll ever get to putting them online... Before I start any new sites though, I need to finish the SB site work!
My Doctor Who site is next up for an overhaul. I'll be using a combo of SSI, CSS and PHP stuff. I think. I had it all planned out, and now I can't quite work out what it was I was going to do... Wait! No! Not SSI, just CSS and PHP. OK. I'll be using headers and footers, but no SSI. Phew. Glad I figured that out. And I'm also glad that I've typed it out because if I forget again I can just look back through my blog. ;)
My poor Who site... it looks like pig doots right now. Don't worry, little Who site, I'll fix you up! Ah geez, I'm talking to a website. In a blog post. I am supremely pathetic.
Ho hum.
Watched some of the Wembley DVD extras last night - the "John cam" was hilarious! I love how good ol' Deaky would sing along every once in awhile to Under Pressure (he would just mouth the words, not actually sing into the microphone), like he was really gettin' into the music. :D Gotta love the Deaky! And his little Deaky dances and hops that he does - so, so funny, yet endearing, because you KNOW that if you were up on stage with Queen you'd be bouncing around too. ;) In my case, I'd be running around like a chicken with its head cut off, bumping into random band members, until I'd eventually pass out. ;)

OK, to continue on from last night's post - Best Buy. You see, I've just started on Lexapro (for my OCD and general anxiety), and prior to starting Lexapro, I "weaned" myself off of Celexa, which was what I was taking before. So why is this important? Well, it isn't, but anyways... at Best Buy, I just freaked right out. Or something like that. I got terribly anxious and sweaty and so nervous about everything, and so my mom made me sit down in the appliance section. This happens more than I'd like it to - anytime I'm around crowds, I get extremely anxious and start feeling a bit woozy... My mom and I think the reason why I was so badly affected by the crowds at Best Buy is because I've just gone off of one med and onto another, and so my system is a bit wonky. In any case, it's nothing to worry about - it's just another event in the on-going saga of my adventures with OCD. Fun stuff, hmm? :/
OK! Now for the fun stuff! No really, it's fun! I've thought about this for awhile, but have never got round to doing it - post some of my Freddie wallpapers that wouldn't quite fit in on my ANATO fanlisting because they're not from the same era. But they ARE dem dishy! I captioned them because I'm a doofus like that, but anyways... hope you like them, or are at least amused!! :D
I call this - *drool* Lookit! He's gorgeous!
I made it in the space of, I dunno, 10 minutes, right before I went to bed, a few weeks ago. I like it cos it looks like he's coming out the the monitor. :D I left this on up on my desktop for ages. That was nice. :) (Brushes from 8nero.net brushes)
I dubbed this one Mmm! because, in all honesty, I couldn't think of a good title. But anyways... I had this as my wallpaper for a long time too, even though, really, it's a bit simple and just very slightly pig doots... however, I used a lovely piccy of Freddie, so it's not entirely awful!
This is my current desktop bg, and when I was saving it, the only filename I could think of was Ooh, lovely! because oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, it's a lovely picture! :D Really, it's a gorgeous piccy, and I decided that it must and SHALL be my wallpaper. But I went and spanglified it with text and filters, because anything that's on MY desktop MUST be fabulous, darling! (/Freddie-speak)
And this one, I call - Phwoar! It's beautiful, innit? This is another bg that was up on my desktop for eons. I love that photo of Freddie, and once again, I decided it must be my wallpaper, but with a few spanglifications to make it really... spangly. ;)
And there you have it! :D
I'm quite happy right now - I'm working on skinning my Sarah Brightman page, and so had to put a clever "Under Brief Construction" note on the index without actually saying "Under Brief Construction". I opted to use one of my favorite lines from WWTLF and go from there. It's weird - the only version of WWTLF I'd heard until the original, best version by Queen, was Sarah Brightman's, which moves me to tears. Then I finally heard Queen's version, and was moved to sobs. I think Brian's "Who waits forever anyway?" is much more... I dunno, poignant, than Sarah's, although of course I still love her version too. But you just can't improve on perfection, can you?
Anyways, skinning. Yeah, I'll probably mess up the whole thing, and have to scrap it, but I'm determined. I mean, this is quite a big endeavor for me! I'm used to working with HTML only, not PHP and headers and footers and CSS. But - I've been able to work with the PHP, etc, on my fanlistings, and so maybe I'm not as hopeless as I think I am...
Ah well. Maybe a cry of "Nekkid Queen!" will help to end the post on a high note.
"Nekkid Queen!"

............................can't think of a title...............
Whoops! I didn't post last night! Too tired to, sorry about that!
So, today we went out to Best Buy (1) to help the grandparents buy a new, spangly TV and (2) to buy random stuff. I got the Chicago soundtrack, which is excellent, considering I'm not into movie soundtracks. But the songs stand alone, and not just withing the context of the movie, so it's more like an album than a soundtrack. I also got Edward Scissorhands and The Ninth Gate for cheap, which was nice! I've never actually seen the whole of ES, because, honestly, Johnny Depp just freaked me out. He's kinda scary looking! As someone who has to very gingerly go around the channels on Halloween night so as not to accidentally come across, say, Frankenstein or Nosferatu, you may understand why he scared me (see more about Halloween below). But, I've always wanted to see it, and it feeds my Johnny Depp addiction, so I'll just keep a stiff upper lip and not scream and dive behind the couch when he comes onscreen. ;)
The Ninth Gate, which I have on VHS but is not the full version (it was on SciFi awhile ago), is pig doots, but it's entertaining pig doots, and it's got Johnny Depp looking dee-lish. A far cry from Edward Scissorhands! :)
Back to the Halloween thing - this past Halloween, we were watching TV, and my mom was lord of the remote (she always is, actually) and so was flipping around channels. She knows I freak out if I even hear the name "Frankenstein" (it's this deep-seated childhood fear of the thing, I just can't kick the fear!), but alas... it was on that night, as was that movie thing about Nosferatu... Shadow of the Vampire? Something like that. Anyways, she stopped on Frankenstein for a moment by accident and I let out this yelp and she cracked up, and then went around the channels again and - completely by accident - stopped on the Nosferatu thing, and I yelped and hopped out of the chair a bit. Needless to say, my loving mother cracked up and then - completely on purpose - would stop on the channels with the two movies to see my reaction. Thanks, mom. ;) (I'm just kidding, it was really funny. I'm not THAT scared by it - goodness, I'm about to turn 18! - but scary movies creep me out!)
Anyways, Best Buy. Actually, I'll continue this post tomorrow, because I've got to get to bed... :/

Now pay attention, because this is important: Ha ha! Just kidding, it's not important, but it sure is *fun*. I was looking at Queen stuff online and came across a picture of Freddie that just about made me fall out of my chair (read more about my chair below.)...! It's gorgeous and I love it and awwww, he's so dishy! I found it here, so go and take a look cos there's lots of nifty piccies to drool at. ;) I also found a lovely pic of Brian at Corbis.com that any self-respecting Brian ogler should take a peek at and, possibly, set up a shrine to.
I finally got my chair! Yes, I now have a comfy chair, so I'll probably never leave my computer for anything. It's a really comfy chair. ;) Anyways, I've been using an old metal folding chair for eons and needless to say, a metal folding chair is not the most comfortable thing to sit on for extended periods of time. We went out and got a lovely *executive* leather chair that allows you to recline and stuff. The coolest thing - it swivels and rolls, so I kind of just rolled and swivelled around my room for awhile after I got it. :) Actually, the real coolest thing is that it was on a mega-sale so it was quite a good deal. So I can swivel and roll and not feel bad about the money spent, just so that I can swivel and roll. ;)
Hmm, half this post is about my chair. That's sad.

Now for some actual content. This brilliant quote refers to The Brain of Morbius, a fantastic Who story...
Douglas Wulf (dwulf@u.washington.edu) wrote:

Except, he says, crossing his fingers for luck, the Doctor was losing
the match at that point. Losing pretty badly; so badly that he required the
Elixir of Life to survive. If the Infamous Faces had appeared *first*,
then followed by the Doctor's known incarnations, you'd be able to argue
that they were Morbius' past lives flashing before his eyes before he
rallied and began to push back at the Doctor. But the clear implication
on screen is that at the time Robert Holmes et al appear on the screen,
Morbius is winning the battle, and these images are appearing in the
Doctor's mind.
Silly Theory no. 42 : the Doctor knows that he is a fictional character,
and as he loses his battle, he's thinking of the production team who put
him into this situation. "Damn you, Robert Holmes... Damn you, Terrance
Dicks... Damn you, Philip Hinchcliffe..."
Cameron Dixon (bx996@torfree.net> 28/3/96 ... except that it contains one of the most debated scenes in fandom. Here's my say: it doesn't really matter, does it? But it DOES! Because the faces weren't the Doctor's, they were Morbius'. Period. Yeah, maybe Robert Holmes and Philip Hinchcliffe were of the opinion at the time that perhaps the Doctor did have lives prior to Hartnell, but it just wouldn't make sense for the Doctor to have had regenerations prior to Hartnell.
Of course, in the end - it doesn't matter. The Doctor/Morbius debate doesn't take away from your enjoyment of the show, right? Right! But it's dem fun to debate about. :D
Ah yes - the faces that appear on the screen are those of various Who people in costume who were on hand the day of filming. :) This may not make sense, but it may help to understand the last bit of the quote. :D

Ahem. Yes, I haven't posted for TWO WHOLE DAYS, which makes me sad, and this post doesn't make up for it, but then again... it's not like I'd have said anything really interesting, so maybe it's just as well that I was too busy? ;)

New, spanglified layout!
Er, new layout too! And new mock covers! Whoo!

Now for the icon:

And - David, if you're reading this, I'll get back to your email as soon as I can. Yes, I use FrontPage, and yes, you could finish the site using it. Formatting text in FP is kind of like formatting in Word, so you should get the hang of it. ;)

standing on his head.

I sent in my entry for the Fave Madonna Video challenge at Acid Rock Blends. "Rain" isn't actually my favorite video - my fave is either Bedtime Story, Frozen, or Nothing Really Matters - but after trying to create a blend using screen caps from NRM, and finding that I just couldn't get it to work, I creayed one for Rain. Go figure.
Ooh! I must correct one of my previous doofus statements - you may recall this mini-rant about the Seven Seas of Rhye remix on the remastered Queen II album:
....And I can't say where the "Yeah" comes from, cos it could be from any Queen song! If I listened to that one vocal by itself over and over again, I could figure it out. I'm sure of it. ;) )
Turns out the "Yeah!" is from the "sing-along" that Freddie conducts so fantastically showmanly on the Live Killers album (which I just got and love!). Does it surprise you that I sang along too? Nope, didn't think it did. ;)
Mmm. I love Freddie. :D

In the introduction to Dave Barry Is Not Taking This Sitting Down!, there's a little quiz to determine if you've got what it takes to be a humorist. On of the questions goes something like this - "You can ask the pope only one question. What do you ask?". Choice A and B are serious questions, and choice C is: "Can I wear your hat?". Brilliant! I would SO ask the pope if I could wear his hat. :D

OHHHHHH YEEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
APPROVED and SO DANG HAPPY ABOUT IT!
OK, insanity over, for the moment at least! Yes, I got approved for the A NIGHT AT THE OPERA FANLISTING! My life is complete. Now, go and join it, or I shall beat you about the head with a herring or something. ;) And it's lots more than just a fanlisting - I put a LOT of effort into making it different from the typical fanlistings - this one has pretty good content, if I do say so myself! :D
In other news - I got back from the beach, whoop, and I suppose I should talk a bit about vacation. It was nice, but... well... it wasn't the best vacation we've ever had. All of our various issues were in overdrive (my OCD contamination thing, for one, skyrocketed) but we still were able to have fun. And I got teased by a an old hippy cashier guy for buying a poster of His Gorgeousness, Johnny Depp. Which was funny. :D
The coolest part of the vacation was watching the coverage of the Democratic National Convention. I'll be voting this fall (yep, I'm eligible to vote! Look out world!) and all of a sudden I've gotten quite into politics. Last year, I could have cared less, but now I try to keep up with all the latest political hoopla. Should I mention that I'm a Kerry supporter, or will that violate the "never talk about politics" taboo? Aw sod it, who cares.
Well, enough about all that boring stuff - now for the ICONS! After having no access to a computer for a week while I was at the beach, I kind of went just very slightly mad with icon making. A bazillion Freddies, one Brian, 2 Rogers, 4 Deakys, and 2 bands. You see, I thought it would be kinder on your computers to not post them all right here, so I put them on a separate page. I think I might try to stick to that format in the future. :) Enjoy 'em and love 'em. <3 Queen!
Erm, not much more to say right at the mo - well, maybe one or two things:
+ One, I'm dropping the DNA site. I've lost interest and though I hate to disappoint David, I just don't need the extra work. Come fall, I'll be getting a job, and then I'll be off to college in the spring. I have to pare down my web load.
+ Two, I've taken the links to the Josh Groban Site of Stuff off of lunaestas.com. I have now officially dropped the site; however, the site is still online, I just don't link to it anymore because I don't update it and it's pig doots. ;)
+Three, I've put up a new layout for lunaestas.com's index - you know, the splash page. It's a bit pig doots, but it'll suffice for now. :) I'll come up with something mind-blowing later.
+ Four... um, can't think of anything else.
Join. Or at least visit, cos then I'd love you forever ("is our today..." - Who Wants To Live Forever, Queen!)
Cheery bye, Scarlett

Brilliant! And that's not English, of course - it's Japanese, I think, pronounced "goot yah". I dunno what it means, but Kylie says it cool!
